MARY JANE
Of Fenton, age 100, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, with Reverend Harold K. Polk, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm on Tuesday until the time of service. An inurnment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery at a later date. Mary Jane was born in Caldwell, Texas on September 8, 1923, the daughter of the late Robert and Ella (Stubbs) Alford. She was a resident of Flint since 1969 until she moved to Fenton in 2021. On April 19, 1944, Mary Jane married Lt. Col. Bill Spiller. She was a faithful member of Calvary Presbyterian Church. Surviving are daughter, Jill Lynn and (Barry A.) Martin; son, Douglas William (Julie K.) Spiller; grandchildren, Lisa (Dave) Morey and Lynn Frost, Erik (Liz) Martin, Evan (Mandy) Martin and Leah Martin, Nicholas (Blair) Spiller and Benjamin (Hannah) Spiller; many loving great-grandchildren;
brother, Dan Alford; nieces nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; daughter Jane E. Frost; son-in-law, Larry Frost and siblings, Virginia Claybrook, Bob, Hawk and Hoover Alford. Your condolences may be shared with the family at swartzfuneralhomeinc.com

I am so sad to hear of the passing of Mrs. Spiller. She was such a lovely lady. I loved to listen to her talk with that sweet southern twang. She would always tell me the story of Ben and Austin with the PB&J sandwiches before hockey practice. Loved it!!! One thing she always spoke of, was how proud she was of her family! Wishing you all comfort at this difficult time!
