Mary attended several functions of the Craven-Pamlico Christian Coalition over the years, including some candidate forums. We may have had some political differences, but we always had a smile and a hug for each other, especially when I told her that us Germans needed to stick together.

May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace, and may all of your family find peace.

DEAR SWARTZ FAMILY ;
AS A FORMER COUNTY COMMISSIONER AND AS THE CHAIRMAN OF THE CRAVEN COUNTY GOP I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO TALK WITH MARY ON MANY OCCASIONS ABOUT MANY SUBJECTS. WHEN MARY SPOKE TO ME I ALWAYS KNEW SHE WAS SINCERE IN WHAT SHE SAID AND HOW SHE FELT. SHE WAS A CARING PERSON AND CRAVEN COUNTY IS BETTER OFF DUE TO HER MANY ACTIVITIES, BOTH IN POLITICS AND CHARITABLE ACTIVITIES. SHE WILL BE MISSED BUT I ASSURE YOU SHE WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN.

To the Eborns and the Whitbys:

Please know that I am thinking of you during this difficult time. Mary always brought a smile to my face when I would see her and speak with her.

Two words that described Mary "to a t" are feisty and courageous. I will remember her fondly.

May the Lord be with you as you remember the good times and the joy she brought to you.

My thoughts and prayers are with Mary's family at this difficult time. She was an inspiration to me and always kept me on my toes. I so enjoyed listening to her talk of growing up in Ireland, marrying her husband, her struggles and most of all, how she raised her daughters to be strong like she was. She leaves behind a legacy never to be forgotten.
