MARY AGNES TAYLOR (Age 103)  1908 - 2011  
On Monday, May 16, 2011, Mary left her home of 70 years in Arlington, VA to go to her home in heaven. Originally of Orangeburg, South Carolina, she was a charter member of the Arlington Forest United Methodist Church and a member of the community "K-Club" which developed lasting friendships for over 68 years.Her family and friends were surrounded by her love and love of cooking for almost 100 years. She began learning to bake at age 3, having come from a long line of bakers - Rhodes Bakery in Atlanta, Georgia.Mary's philosophy of "Happiness is Homemade" is reflected in her beautiful wedding cakes that launched many a bride and groom at their first meal and her tireless efforts spent preparing family and holiday dinners that will be a lasting memory (especially her famous potato rolls) for all those who knew and loved her.She is preceded by her husband, Goodwin Hunt Taylor, of 42 years. She leaves her son, Goodwin Hunt Taylor Jr. and daughter-in-law, Patricia Ann Taylor, her daughter, Mary Jane Rasely, her grandson, John Kirk Taylor, his wife, Tamera, great grandson, Levi Kirk, granddaughter, Kelly Ann Merriam, her husband, Robert Merriam, great granddaughter, Taylor Ann Merriam, great granddaughter, Margaret Rein Merriam, grandson, Goodwin Hunt Taylor III, his wife, Gretchen Lynch Taylor, great-granddaughter, Grace Marie Taylor, and great- grandson Goodwin Hunt Taylor IV.A celebration of her life will be held at Arlington Forest United Methodist Church on June 2, 2011, at 5 p.m., at 4701 Arlington Boulevard, Arlington, VA 22203. Contributions in her memory can be made to Arlington Forest United Methodist Church.
