Mary Margaret Thompson

Mary Margaret Thompson, age 61, of Elkton, MD, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2016 at the University Of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 26, 1954, in Buffalo, NY, to the late Matthew and Susan (Golya) Engoglia. Mary Margaret grew up in Buffalo, NY. A graduate of the University of Delaware with a BA Cum Laude, in Wildlife Management, she loved all animals and had a passion for Irish Setters and Havanese, which she bred, and had many Blue Ribbon Winners in the lineage. One of her dogs, "Audrey", an Irish Setter, even won best in show in the prestigious Westminster Dog Show. She fulfilled her lifelong dream of opening a kennel when she opened Rainwood Kennels in Elkton, MD, which was voted Best in Cecil County by Cecil Favorites. A person with a great sense of humor and always happy, Mary Margaret was said to be generous, caring and kind, "always able to see the good in everyone". She is survived by her husband, the Honorable Dexter M. Thompson, Jr., Ret.; her daughter, Taylor Thompson, of Elkton, MD; grandchildren, Melody and Gauge Roache; her brother, James Engoglia, LTC US Army Ret., and his wife, Mary, of Arlington, VA; and her dogs, Troy, Uno, Abby and Tanzy. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11AM on Saturday, May 7, 2016, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 105 Bridge Street, Elkton, MD 21921. Friends and family may visit one hour prior, beginning at 10AM. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution checks can be made to "Alzheimer's Association", and sent care of R.T.
