Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Mobley Vest will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 29, 2008 at Mt. Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church. Interment will follow in North View Cemetery. She died on Thursday, December 25, 2008 in a local hospital.
She was born September 27, 1927 in Florence, SC, the daughter of Shelly and Eliza Mobley. She attended the public schools of Florence County. Her profession was that of a Domestic Engineer and many families in the Florence Area was blessed by her presence.
Mrs. Vest was a dedicated and faithful member of Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church up to the time of her demise.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Robert Vest; two sons, Joseph and Phillip Lee Vest; a granddaughter, Gloria McKnight; and brother, Arthur Cannon.
Survivors are: two sons, Edward Chick McKnight and John Earl Mobley; granddaughter and caregiver, Tekesha (Henry) Jones; other grandchildren, Joseph (Katrina) Shird, Antonio (Tammy) Shird, Shirley Williams, Mary Williams, Katie Williams, Sarah Williams, Clyde Williams, Angela Williams, Edward McKnight and Marcus William; many great grandchildren; nieces reared as a daughter, Delores Paul and Carolyn (Henry) Tyler; niece, Dennia Cannon; special friends, Carol Lee Eaddy and Mary Ann Eaddy; and a host of cousins and friends.

Mrs. Vest was a sweet and caring person. She would always tell me she loved hearing me sing. I will miss her beautiful smile. My prayers go out to the family.
