As a former Hibbard School student in the 90s, I was incredibly saddened to hear of the passing of my favorite teacher Mrs. Wolf. She was the first and only teacher to have ever made me feel completely safe in the classroom. I was a shy kid, and have always struggled with social anxiety. Mrs. Wolf made me feel safe enough to ask questions, make mistakes, and feel empowered to use my voice. Her sweet nature was such that my favorite memory of her is of a day when my class was expected to participate in a dodgeball competition with another class. My anxiety made Gym class one of my biggest fears. Seeing how afraid I was to participate on this particular day, she let me stay behind in the classroom, and she shared her apple juice with me while we talked. I never again experienced such kindness and patience from another educator. I regret never telling her how much that small act of kindness meant to me. If this wonderful sweet soul was able to make such an impact on a child in just one school year, I cannot imagine the great loss that must be felt within her family. Mary Jill Wolf was an amazing bright light of a spirit, and she will be deeply missed. My condolences to the family.

A gifted teacher for gifted students. Jill was a gifted, generous role model, not just for students, but for colleagues as well. Jill touched the hearts of her students garnering their respect and implanting indelible memories of their fifth grade experience.

Jill was an extraordinary person, friend, and teacher. She was very warm and compassionate, and always had a smile on her face without ever talking badly about anyone.
As a teacher, Jill cared about all her students and made her teaching interesting, engaging, and encouraging all her students to do their very best.
I taught with her at Hibbard and know she was one of the best teachers there.
My condolences go to her family. May Jill Rest In Peace.
Fondly,
Barbara Schwartz

Jill had a delightful personality and it was a joy to be around her. She was an excellent teacher who worked hard to instill love of reading in her students. I feel very sad at her passing but fortunate to have been her colleague at Hibbard School.

Jill was such a kind, helpful colleague who always took an interest in my special projects with my third-graders. She was the epitome of grace and I loved hearing her stories of her grandchildren, especially Emma and Burke. She left a beautiful garden at Hibbard Elementary School which will always remind me of her. My condolences to all of you. Jill was a beautiful, kind soul and will be greatly missed.
