Mary Catherine Wood 1953 - 2018
Lincoln, IL—Mary Catherine Wood, 64, of Lincoln, passed away February 5, 2018 at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be from 1-3 PM Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 3pm also at the funeral home. Cremation rites will then be accorded. There will be no burial at this time.
Mary was born October 12, 1953 in Evansville, IN., the daughter of Arthur Gobel Neal and Myrtle (Phillips) Neal. She married Samuel Wood on October 9, 1969. He preceded her in death on June 2, 2002.
She was an avid gardener. Mary enjoyed canning fruits and various jams and jellies. She enjoyed a good book, especially romance novels. Her family was the center of her life. She would do anything for her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Mary was selfless and always put others first. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Surviving are her children: Geoffrey Wood of Chicago, IL., Nehemiah "Nick" Wood ( fiancé Tina Hjerpe) of Streator, IL., Alyshia (Bob) Thomas of Atlanta,IL., and Sonja Wood of Lincoln, IL.; step children: Randy ( Jasmin) Wood of Round Lake Beach, IL., Natalie Wood of Round Lake Beach, IL., Robert Dall (Wood) of CA., and Leslie ( Sandra) Wood of MO.; 7 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and siblings: Charles ( Teresa) Neal of IN., Leon (Missy) Neal of IN., Dorothy Moody
( Billy Border) of MO., and Cloral "Smiley" Neal of IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Nigel Wood, step son Daryl Wood, sisters Ruby Worthington, Blanche Petersen, and Sarah Christiansen, and brothers Joe Neal and Arthur William "Pete" Neal.
