MaryAnn Cherubini, 69, of Greensburg, died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017, at her home. She was born Feb. 22, 1948, in Greensburg, a daughter of the late Myles A. and Josephine (Shensky) Donoghue. Prior to retirement, she had been a data manager for the Hempfield Area School District. She was a member of St. Bruno Roman Catholic Church, South Greensburg, where she served as a Eucharistic minister, lector, member of the adult and funeral choirs, pastoral council and the RCIA team. She was a graduate of Westmoreland County Community College with an associate degree, and a graduate of St. Vincent College magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Information Management. She was the recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award from WCCC. She was a member of the oblate of St. Benedict at St. Vincent Archabbey. MaryAnn was a member and past co-chair of the St. Vincent summer theatre gala committee. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends golfing, reading and traveling. MaryAnn enjoyed being a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jamie Lynn Greece; and her brother-in-law, John L. "Sonny" Cherubini. She is survived by her husband, James "Jack" A. Cherubini; a stepson, James A. Cherubini, and wife, Christine, of South Greensburg; two stepdaughters, Leann Myers, and husband, Bruce, of Greensburg, and Jacquelyn Greece, and husband, Mark, of South Greensburg; four grandchildren, Anthony Greece, Nicholas Greece, Vincent Cherubini and Joseph Cherubini; two great-grandchildren, Jacob Greece and Elliana Greece; a brother, John A. Donoghue, of Melbourne, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Arlynn Cherubini DeFloria, of Venice, Fla.; her extended family, Michael Secora, and wife, Diana, of New York City; a goddaughter, Marianna; many nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton St., Greensburg. Prayers will begin at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home, followed at 10 a.m. by a funeral Mass to be celebrated in St. Bruno Roman Catholic Church, South Greensburg. Entombment will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, MaryAnn would be grateful for memorial contributions to the James A. and MaryAnn Cherubini Endowed Scholarships at Westmoreland County Community College or St. Vincent College or St. Vincent Monastery. I want to share this story with those that love Mary Ann. We attended catholic school in Crabtree together The nun disliked me and had the eight grade girls go to the
Lower grades doing lunch. The only one left were 20 boys and myself. It was awful. One day Mary Ann and
Martha we're going to eat lunch at Delucas store which they did every day. They invited me to go with them. Really they saved my life. I have often thought of those two special girls. That one
Small act of kindness made my life bearable
I just read in the festival book she had passed away.

I knew you many years ago, I used to come to your house when you lived in Hufftown. I was friend of Tommy Appleby and your brother Sonny. I recently crossed paths with a Galone and asked if she knew sonny and she said yes. May your wife forever rest in Peace

I was Mary Ann's friend since elementary school at St. Bartholomew and then we worked together at Hempfield Area School District. I have some fun memories of the times we spent as kids. She was a good friend and a great person. I send my condolences to her family. I hope to get to the funeral home tomorrow.
