Maryann Pliss Obituary
January 25, 1953 - April 19, 2025
Maryann Pliss, beloved sister in law and friend of Mike Keenan and wife Anne, Aunt of Kevin and Chris Keenan and their wives Sarah and Nichole, and Aunt "Na" of Genevieve, Jack, Augie and Ben Keenan, dear friend of Mary Beth and Dave Bolen, and Harriet and Terry Holmes,
Passed peacefully on to new life April 19, 2025.
Maryann was born to Annie and Frank Pliss. She was a proud Redbird of Illinois State University, where she earned her BA and MA degrees. She spent her career teaching French to High School students in Kankakee, IL and was recognized by her students as providing a classroom of respite and fun from the challenges of adolescent life.
Maryann is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Geraldine Pliss Keenan, and love of her life Larry Wargel.
Services will be held at Ascension of Our Lord Church in Oak Brook Terrace, IL
on May 28, 2025 at 10 am.
Private burial.
Her family wishes to thank the staff of The Lexington/Roosevelt at Salt Creek and Senior Helpers for the care, caring and friendship that made the last 3 years of her life so full. A Funeral Mass will be held on May 28, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church 1S314 Summit Avenue

Mademoiselle was my favorite teacher in high school. She was no nonsense about rules, but loved her students, and would sometimes bend a rule or 2 for her favorites. She inspired many students over the years and we all loved her! Gone, but never forgotten!
