Masashi Tazumi Obituary
At the age of 2, Mas went to Japan with his grandparents and remained there until he finished high school. Upon his return to the United States at the age of 18 he continued his education and helped in the family business. In 1942 he was interned in the Poston Relocation Camp where he met and married Dorothy Nishimura.
After the war, the family relocated to Fresno where Mas was a gardener who took pride in his work. His main interests included Bonsai and Shigin (The Singing of Japanese Poetry). Mas was also active in the Fresno Betsuin Buddhist Temple.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy, of 71 years and daughters: Karen (James) Chinn, Norma (Rene) Martin, Elaine (Richard) Flores, Terri (Brian) Horiuchi, and Mimi (Joe) Zanone. He is lovingly called Jichan by 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Sunako Oye and sister-law Terrie Tazumi, as well as in-laws, nieces, nephews and their families.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 31, 2015 at 11:00 am Fresno Buddhist Dharma Center, 2690 E. Alluvial, Fresno, CA 93720.

Mas is remembered as a special neighbor. He and Dorothy, too, always had a smile and cared about their friends and neighbors. We were neighbors for 37 years, and we have nothing by good thoughts of the family. A medical appointment does not us allow us to be with you, but we are okay and will be thinking of you.

Beautiful tribute to a beautiful man. I remember him from our youth as a quiet but always smiling presence.
