MASON B. HERRING Mason B. Herring, 68, of Charlottesville passed away on Monday May 28, 2007 at his home with all his family by his side. Mason was born on March 15, 1939 in Batesville, Virginia and was the son of the late Johnny and Phyllis Barksdale Herring. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Cora Kirby �Polly� Herring; one sister, Nancy Ferneyhough; one brother, Claude W. Herring and by a granddaughter, Tanyah Montana Shifflett. He was a hard worker and instilled in his children the value of work and the pride he took in being a dad. His children thank him. He is survived by his children, Lewis �Jr.� Sprouse and Virginia, Peggy Tucker, Robert Wayne Sprouse and Helen, Brenda J. Herring, Phyllis Diane Shifflett, Linda Sue McDaniel, Terry M. Herring and Pam, Jeff B. Herring and Robin, David E. Herring and Joyce, Kenny A. Herring and Kelly, Carl A. Herring and Carol, Karen E. Mawyer and Jay, Brian K. Herring and Renee, Shelly A. Herring, Darrell F. Kirby and Donna, Phillip �Pete� Kirby and Liz, Jonathan Kirby and Jennifer, Shawn Harrison and Carrie, 36 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Thomas Herring, George Herring, his former wife Pauline Herring, a long time friend Shawna Grantham and her children, Alex and Johnny, and several nieces, nephews and close friends. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday June 1, 2007 in the Teague Chapel with Reverend James Mawyer officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday May 31, 2007 at the funeral home. The family would like to thank Hospice of the Piedmont, and its staff, Marion Monopoly, Patsy Lambert, Sarah Shannon and Mary Hughes.
