Matthew Thomas Adkins, a lifelong resident of Pensacola, FL, was born October 5, 1976, and died on Monday, March 28, 2022.
Matt was a graduate of Woodham High School, and attended Troy State University in Pensacola. He was a licensed real estate agent, worked for the Escambia County Property Appraiser, and later as a moving consultant for Coastal Moving and Storage.
Matt was a member of the Krewe of Andres de Pez for more than twenty years, and one of the first chosen by the founders. He was the first “Siguenza” (a position second to the Admiral). He served on the board, and the De Pez Ball committee for several years and later was honored to be chosen as Admiral. He was always proud of his contributions that made the De Pez Krewe the great organization it is today. This was Matt’s Band of Brothers for many years, and they were always there for him.
Matt is predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Thomas J. Adkins and Edith M. Graham Adkins, and his maternal grandmother (Nannie), Alene Holley Wagner.
Matt is survived by his parents, Mike and Jennifer Adkins of Pensacola, FL; his sister, Lindsay Osborn (Chris); nieces, Taylor and Emily Osborn of Plano, TX; aunt, Regina Wagner of Littleton, CO; uncles, Wayne Villeneuve of Littleton, CO, Steven Wagner (Lisa) of Pensacola, FL, and his grandfather, (Papa) George J. Wagner. He also leaves behind his soulmate, Michelle Sweeney, and her children, Allie and Alex, who shared some of Matt’s brightest days and many other family members and lifelong friends.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April, 2, 2022 at Christ Episcopal Church, 18 West Wright St. Pensacola FL, 32501 at 10:00 a.m. with The Rev. Kathryn Gillett officiating. Inurnment will immediately follow at Bayview Memorial Park at 3351 Scenic Hwy. Pensacola, FL 32503.

So sorry to hear about my friend Matt! It’s been years and life has put us on two different paths. But I have the best memories of us growing up together. The impact Matt had on me and so many other. His infectious smile, mischievousness, and humor always brought light to a situation. Matt will be so missed praying for Matt’s friends, family, and loved ones.
