Matthew Burroughs Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 5 to Dec. 6, 2023.
Matthew James Burroughs of Salisbury, Maryland passed at his home on Thursday, November 16, 2023. He was 35 years old.

Born on March 28, 1988, in Salisbury, he was the only son of James Burroughs and Mary (Milligan) Burroughs. Matthew graduated from Wicomico High School in 2006, University of Northwestern Ohio in 2008 and Southern New Hampshire University in 2017. Mr. Burroughs worked as the Compliance Manager for Xactus, LLC (formerly Credit Plus) in Salisbury, Maryland. He thoroughly enjoyed sports of all kind, but was often quoted saying "racing is my life" and could easily be found on any given weekend, with his father at a local track. Matthew had a passion for writing, a love for animals and a commitment to supporting others. His witty humor and genuine personality often brought joy to those around him. He was a loving and devoted husband, son, and "daddy" to his beloved family pets.

Matthew is survived by his wife, Kristi (Kane) Burroughs; mother, Mary Burroughs; father, James Burroughs; stepmother, Lisa Burroughs; stepbrothers: William and Gregory Wilkinson; many loving extended family members. He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents: William and Alicia Milligan; paternal grandparents: Flora and George Burroughs.

The family has chosen to keep the services private.

"I thought of you with love today but that is nothing new, I thought about you yesterday and days before that too. I think of you in silence I often speak your name, All I have are memories and your picture in a frame. Your memory is my keepsake with which I'll never part, God has you in His keeping, I have you in my heart..."
