Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 15, 2009.
Matthew D. Houck, 36, of 76 Greeley St., died Thursday, March 12, 2009 in Clinton Hospital, after being stricken ill.

He leaves his wife of nine years, Harmony L. (McElhiney) Houck; three daughters, Alycia, Rachel, and Kylie, at home, and another child due in October; his parents, Donald S. and Patricia M. (Hennis) Houck, of Clinton; a brother, Timothy J. Houck, and his wife Jessica, of Clinton; his father-and-mother-in-law, John and Madalyn (Clark) McElhiney, of Clinton; three sisters-in-law: Danielle Francis and her husband, Jo-Jo, Melissa Largey and her husband, Patrick and Allyson McElhiney; and his grandfather-in-law, George H. McElhiney, who was a great inspiration to him. He also leaves behind aunts, uncles and cousins; a very special niece, Kayla Houck, and very special nephew, Joshua Houck; a friend, Tracy L. Poudrier, who was like a sister to him; and his best friend, Paul Hyde, all of whom he loved very much.

Matthew was born in Worcester and was raised in Clinton. He was a graduate of Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School, Marlborough.

He worked most recently as a carpenter for Prism Developers of Clinton. Previously, he worked for the Carpenters Union of Boston, and was a certified welder.

Matthew enjoyed restoring cars, biking, the outdoors and fishing with his children. A proud father, Matthew's greatest joy was watching his daughters grow, and he was looking forward to meeting his new child this fall.

Matthew will be sadly missed by family, friends, and all who knew him.

A calling hour will be held on Monday, March 16, 2009, from 10:00-11:00 a.m., in the McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Houck Children's Fund, c/o Clinton Savings Bank, 200 Church St. Clinton, MA 01510.

I am still at loss for words!
All I know is Matt raised those Girls with nothing but LOVE & Respect!
He would give anyone his shirt off his back or shoes off his feet if they needed it.
He will always be here with us,
Missed & Loved by ALL!

Harm, Alycia, Rachel, Ky and Baby Houck,

I am so sorry for your loss; I wish there was something I could say or do to bring Matt back. Please know that I had a lot of respect for Matt and thought he was a great husband, father and friend.

He was always the first to offer a hand and was a great listener. Matt was pleasant, soft-spoken and always had kind words to offer. He was pretty funny too!

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

The most important thing we can do is keep his memory alive to ensure that his new baby knows just what a great dad he had. You will never be alone as Matt will always be there watching over you.

I love you guys and am here for you.

Matt,

I have no words to say that would express how much I truly loved and cared for you. You were my brother and my friend. I will never forget the way you would say "Miss", or your always constant laugh. You will always hold a special place in my heart. I promised you that I would take care of Harmony, Alycia, Rachel, Kylie and the baby. The girls will never forget you and the baby will feel as if they knew the man you were. We will see you again someday and once again our family will be together.

I love you always, and miss you dearly,

xoxo <3 Miss

Dearest Matthew (Nephew),
I remember when you were so very young and Babci couldn't pronounce your name...so she called you "Nephew". To her, it sounded like "Matthew". Through the years I started to call you "Nephew",
up until the most recent time I saw you.
You and I would always have some nice sentimental laughter about it! I am so very sad for your family but I told them that I know that there is a shortage of Angels in heaven and that Jesus, needed your help, our Angel Matthew, "Nephew"...
You will be magnificent, and we know that you and Jesus & all the other Angels
will be guiding us and watching over us with your tender love.
