Matthew Todd Jones 37 of Huntington, WV went to be with the Lord on Monday August 2, 2004. As a curious precocious little boy, Matt developed into a fun loving and caring man. He is survived by his loving wife, Lora; three beautiful daughters, Kandyce Autumn age 9, Skylar Cheyenne age 2 ½ both of Huntington; and Shandell Jones of Chicago, IL. He is also survived by his parents, Jack and Charlotte Jones of Huntington; a brother and sister-in-law, Scott and Lisa Jones of Chelyan, WV; his paternal grandmother Lucille Jones of Parkersburg; two brothers-in-laws and their wives, Mike and Susie Jarrell of Beckley, WV and Don and Shirley Jarrell of North Carolina; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Doretta and Ronald Jarrell of Beckley; five nieces, Samantha and Whitney Jones of Chelyan; Ashley and Lindsey Jarrell of Beckley and Cynthia Jarrell of North Carolina; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Matt was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Raymond Jones and maternal grandparents, Earl and Mildred Sheppard, all of Parkersburg. Matt was an avid outdoorsman. He went on several hunting trips with his father and brother. He loved hunting deer and turkey and he walked in Ritter Park everyday. Jack and Charlotte,

I was so saddened to hear about Matt. I remember, as if it was yesterday, meeting both Scott and Matt for the first time while we were on a Hi-Y trip in Myrtle Beach in 1973. Matt would have been approximately 7 yrs old. I had a GTO that they both admired so I gave them rides in it. Ever since then as Matt grew up and I would see him walking in the park he would always have a smile and a wave.

I have four children and my two oldest boys are 9 & 7 about the same age that Scott and Matt were then. I often think of how well behaved they were and what great parents you are.

Most recently I would see Matt and Jack walk past our house every morning......always a smile and a wave. I cannot imagine the pain that you must be feeling as a parent, my blessings are with your family.

Jack and Charlotte,

This note is from all of us. We are very sorry to hear about your lost. It just seems like that our family is going fast. I know that you both are very proud of your sons. Also, I know that Earl and Mildred were both proud of their grandsons. Dad is not well. He had a light stroke back in the spring of the year. Just remember that your parents and Wayne are taking care of Matt now. Take care of yourselves. Again, we are very sorry.

My thoughts and wishes are with you both during your time of loss. The leadership and support you have provided to the Huntington community though out the years has made you both an integral part of the Huntington landscape. Through your work with the YMCA you have both made many friends in the Huntington community. We all owe you a debt of gratitude for all you have done for all of us. Your loss is shared not only with family and relatives, but is felt by all of those you have touched in your lives.

Just wanted you all to know that our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time.May God Bless you all and give you peace.I will never forget the holidays when we were all together and the things that Mildred and Earl would tell that Matt did and how proud they were of him,how he idolized you Charlotte when he was so very young and I am sure he did always. I heard about him leaving notes for your housekeeper when he was so young. He was so handsom growing up into a young man. Jack was so proud of his boys and I am sure he thought they got some of their good traits and looks from his side also.My heart hurts for you all,I have 3 new stents in my heart and it should feel better, but I am sure that it is nothing like you all is going thru. Let us remember all the good memories of the past and take one day at a time. We Love you all and pray for you always. Fred and Shirley

Our Prayers go out to Lora, the girls, Jack and Charlotte. We were blessed from God to know Matt and how he touched us all with that big smile of his. I just spoke to Matt last week and how he made us all smile while we were talking was just so wonderful. God tells us in Joshua chapter 1, verses 6-10, to be strong and of good courage. We must all read these verses and be strong and of good courage for I know this is what Matt would be telling us all in his absence. He would always throw his arms up in the air and say, "What else is there brother" and give me that laugh. I will always remember Matt, as the one person that when I approached, I would starting smiling and feel great. Thanks Matt for being a True friend and always making me feel better about myself. I pray for Godspeed in Matts journey home to our Father.

Thank you Lord for sharing Matt with us and I know Matt will always be right there with our Father in Heaven. God Bless the Jones Family.

We love you and Pray for your Peace.
