Matt and I went to Kellond Elementary, Fickett Jr High and Sabino High School together. Matt was in my boy scout troop and was the person who told me about Manning Camp in the Rincon mountains. His description of the area inspired me to go backpacking there. Matt had an incredible talent for math, music and English. He was the only person I know who was contacted by the U of A math department, music department and English departments to major at their colleges. RIP Matt and love to the family.

One of my fondest memories of Townsend Jr High was when Matt played The Entertainer on a piano he had modified to give it an old-timey sound. He nailed it and I always admired him for his talent.
