I met Matt during my first semester at UT back in 2019. While we didn't see each other every day, the days that I did get to see him were always great. He was always smiling and witty, which I always admired. I could tell he was full of talent. Back then, I looked up to him and remember thinking that he would be more than successful in whatever he chose to do.
After spending my sophomore year online due to the pandemic, I remember being excited to return to my journalism classes my junior year and possibly run into Matt. He was the type of guy that you wanted to be friends with.
December of 2019 was the last time I saw Matt, as the pandemic hit, and we didn´t have any classes together my second semester. I didn´t know that would be the last time I would see him before he transferred to UNT and then later passed away. He was such a sweet person.
I was saddened to hear of Matt´s passing. My condolences to his family. Matt was the brightest light.

I met Matt at an intro to photojournalism class last semester... The first thing he said to me was "I really like your pants and your style." We spoke every single class, we shared our photos before turning them in and studied together. It was a pleasure to meet their kind soul and I will forever be grateful for all the kind words Matt said to me during our semester as classmates. The news was truly heartbreaking. I send all my prayers to his family.

matthew was such a beautiful soul, he always made everyone around them feel so special. He´s genuinely one of the most creative people i have had the pleasure of interacting with. Though I never had the chance to meet him in person, every interaction we had online was a great one. He will be so incredibly missed. Fly high

Matthew was truly such a light in my life and will forever be missed. My fondest memories of him was our close relationship in high school and how we always rooted and pushed each other to be our greatest. That is something I will always remember about Matthew, his greatness and light in every room he walked in and everyone he interacted with.

I had the honor of being one of Matt's cousins. Living across the country from him, I didn't get to see him all that often, but he was always a highlight in whatever family thing he went to. He grew up to be a great guy, he was super smart, funny, had an overwhelming charisma at all times and in general was just a beautiful soul. I, and many others, will miss him always and I doubt I'll ever be able to eat at Marian's without thinking of him

anytime I had the pleasure of talking with Matthew, usually while he and faith were on FaceTime, they always had the brightest laugh & most infectious personality. they were quick with a joke and it was always a delight to interact with them.

I only got to know Matt for a year and a half. He was someone I always wanted to be friends with and in my senior year I got the opportunity to do so through Sophie. Our time together was very short but his impact lasts on me forever. I will always remember how he didn't mind how quiet, awkward, and odd I was. He saw me for me and never made me feel out of place. His small acts of kindness towards me helped me get through high school and be kind to others around me. I will forever remember dancing with him during lunch hour and being crazy with each other. Thank you for coming into my life Matt, your kindness stays with me always. I love you.

We were in cheer together. I just remember him being so funny and bubbly but when he meant business he meant it. He was one of the sweetest people to come into my life and I´m so appreciative to have met him. He will be missed so dearly.

Matt was an absolute highlight of my time at Randolph. My best memories on the cheer team always involved him and his innate ability to make anyone smile and laugh. I can remember being an 8th grader trying out for the team and being so nervous. Matt was the one I always looked up to, even outside of cheer. It was a privilege to witness his impact and involvement around the school, and his spirit for all things journalism. I am extremely lucky to have known Matt. He was an inspiration and role model to everyone around him and he will be missed dearly.
