Matthew Stuart Scheel

Until we meet again, our son, brother, uncle, uncle Matty to children, friend:
Matthew Stuart Scheel met his Lord on Sept. 19, 2018, after a cerebral aneurism at his home, 11887 Navajo Trail, Conifer.
Matt was born April 4, 1968, in Grand Junction. In May 1970, he came to Conifer with his family. He attended elementary and middle school in Aspen Park and graduated from Evergreen High School in 1987. He earned a bachelor of environmental design degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1993.
After briefly working in the industry as a designer, Matt founded his own design-build services firm, Architrades. He worked on a wide variety of projects in the Denver, Boulder and his beloved mountain communities. BMS Architectural Design Services was established with Steve Brockman in 2013, with Matthew as the principal architectural designer.
In 2003, he desired to give back to his community and began serving as a volunteer firefighter and emergency medical technician.
Matt loved serving his fire community at Christmas and at the Big Chili. He enjoyed serving with St. Anthony at the stock show and Bandimere events. He often was top fire & rescue responder.
Growing up in the mountains, he savored skiing, playing and working in his home area. He loved to develop friendships and treasured his time with family and friends. Time stood still for Matthew as he connected with each one.
Matthew is survived by his parents, Vernon and Joyce Scheel; sister Melissa Christine Scheel Quinlan; brother-in-law Michael Quinlan; sister Alyssa Marie Scheel; Robert Zander; niece Brittany Christine Quinlan Morrison; Brandon Morrison; nephew Ian Michael Quinlan; great-nephew Brody Lee Morrison; and loving friend Tracey Whaley.
A celebration of life and inurnment were held at Evergreen Memorial Park on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2018.
