Alongside his father, he also owned his own home mortgage company before returning to the automotive business with Dreyer and Reinbold BMW.

In his leisure time, Matthew indulged in his passion for audio and video. He was an early adopter of all things electronic and installed a commercial-grade video projection system in his home theater, showcasing his enthusiasm for technology.

Matthew was preceded in death by his first wife of more than 28 years, Lisa Summers (nee Shuck), mother Patricia Summers, and his grandparents Alice and Lawrence Summers from Modesto, California, and Mildred and Dale Peter from Greenfield, Indiana.

Matt came out to visit my parents and me in Colorado a few years back. I’m so glad he did. We drove up to Estes Park to enjoy the mountains in the Springtime and were quite surprised by the amount of snow and cold weather. Never the less we enjoyed the surroundings and even water colored some paintings together. I painted him while he painted a beautiful oak tree. I attached the portrait I painted of him somewhere in here. He took his painting home with him but I can tell you it was tall and stately just like him. Matt was such a trooper to the end, so open to share about his cancer treatments yet never in a complaining tone. I am grateful for all the phone conversations he shared with me and our talks about God/Jesus. I’ll miss him but it’s good to know and remember we will meet again.
