I found this poem today and it so fits how we feel about our mother who we all miss dearly and out of the blue was taken from us. I know she is at peace which makes it a little easier to bare. What I wouldn't give to have one more day sitting around the kitchen table just talking to her or praying the Liturgy of the Hours. Mom, you are loved and missed very much.
God saw you getting tired
and a cure was not to be.
So he put his arms around you,
and whispered “Come to Me”.
With tearful eyes we watched you,
we watched you fade away.
Although we loved you dearly,
we could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
hard working hands now rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.

I did not get to make the funeral. I had to leave for work and for that today I am very sorry I was not there to console all my cousins.
I think about the years when we were children and sat around in the kitchen eating Aunt Maudry's cakes she would make us, drinking fresh milk from cows that were just milked and fighting over who got the cream off the top. We had so much fun in her kitchen.
Some of the things other than Mass and Rosaries that I remember most was that she had a love for people, no matter their stature in life. She never had a bad thing or bad word to say to or about anyone.
I love the legacy she is leaving behind, the way that her Children showed their love for her and toward her. The love that I have seen Uncle Johnny exhibit toward her is absolutely amazing and a blessing to see in this lifetime.
Aunt Maudry, you will be dearly missed. May you look over me while you are in Heaven. Hug Grandma and Grandpa's necks for us, tell Aunt Savia Ann I hope to meet her someday.
I will always love you and always appreciate the beauty you brought into my life.

To Johnny and all the family,
May God reward Maudry, for the many ways she loved, chose wisely, gave freely, was always teaching, and encouraging . May our Blessed Mother Mary make the memories of her joyful as we keep them in our hearts, and may she gain for Maudry every blessing from her Son Jesus . Amen.

Paula, I am so sorry to hear your mother didn't survive after all the fighting she did to live. I know how much you and your family cared for her. It's wonderful you had the opportunity to have these last few weeks with her. Know she loved you as much as you loved her. My condolences.
