Maureen Grady DeLoy

1948 - 2024

Maureen DeLoy passed away peacefully at home with family around her on Thursday, April 25.

A thirty four year resident of Alamo, Maureen is mourned by husband Doug and daughter Karen. She was preceded in death by son Chris. She is survived by sister Karen Bara of New Jersey and in laws Tom Bara, Frank DeLoy and Cheryl Pantano. Treasured aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Maureen grew up in New Jersey but relocated to California in the mid-1970s. She met Doug while vacationing at the Jersey shore in 1980 and married soon after (1983). She was a loan processing officer for financial institutions and studied finance at the University of San Francisco.

Aside from her role as mother and wife, Maureen was an active and generous volunteer in her community. She dedicated her time to her children, spending countless hours at sports events, PTA meetings, and school activities. Her presence was felt in the weekly Whiners coffee discussion group in Alamo, where she was a valued member.

Visitation is open to all from 10a.m. to 1p.m., Wednesday, May 1, at Hull's Memorial Chapel, 1139 Saranap Avenue, Walnut Creek. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in Maureen's memory to the primary organization for pancreatic cancer research, PanCan, www.pancan.org.

Farewell my funny, intelligent, brave friend and fellow Wednesday Whiner. I will always remember our "marches", for Women´s rights, the environment, and several other causes that were important to us both; our years chaperoning our Girl Scouts, your presence at the Thanksgiving cocktail party, and all the other parties and good times we shared. But mostly I will miss your dry, ironic sense of humor. You leave a large hole in our hearts. Teresa Schutzman
