Maureen T. Hallinan

Maureen T. Hallinan, 73, of South Bend, passed away on Tuesday in Shubert Villa, Notre Dame, IN. She was born on June 11, 1940, in Flushing, NY, to the late Joseph and Beatrice (O'Reilly) Hallinan. On September 11, 1976, she married Art Grubert, who preceded her in death on May 4, 2010. She is survived by her daughter, Renee Grubert of Mishawaka; her son, Christopher Grubert of Forrest Park, IL; a grandson, Thomas; a sister, Rita Porter of Wattsburg, PA; and by two brothers, John Hallinan of Flushing and Thomas Hallinan of New York, NY. Dr. Hallinan was a Professor at the University of Notre Dame from 1984 until June 2012. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm Monday February 3, 2014, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 am Tuesday February 4, 2014, in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart at Notre Dame. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE).
