Allan, you will be missed very much by our family. Since 1988 you, Bill, and Virginia have been the most wonderful neighbors any family could ever ask for. Your beautiful home was a welcoming place for me whenever I came to visit after we moved away 15 years ago. Heck my whole family enjoyed stopping by and visiting, even my daughter's fiancé, and my mom came by and you all would welcome us in. Allan would sit in the winged back chair by the stairs, Bill would be in his wheel chair and Virginia would be across from me on the beautiful yellow couches in the living room. Those visits were the highlight of many of my trips to IL. Often starting with your mom saying, "Well, we're still here! Daddy is turning 96 and I will be 93 and I do not think that we would still be in our beautiful home if it were not for Allan." Oh how I will miss those visits with you, your dad, and mom and Bunny and Katy. So many wonderful memories are attached to sitting in your living room with all of you discussing who was still on the old block, sharing a little gossip, some laughs, some health stories, old memories, what we were up to now, politics, fishing stories, and life. You have been like family to Mark, me and our kids. I know you never lived the life that many of us lived with a wife and kids, but you sure added to our life. Thank you, Allan...I hope heaven has great places to fish, a few ginger cookies, and a couple wiggly little dogs to jump into your lap and feel safe. OOO
Love,

I would like to honor Allan's life. He was our good neighbor and friend since 1988. For the last 15 years we have lived in MI but I frequently stopped in Matteson to see Bill, Virginia, and Allan at their home after we moved. Coming to their house was like coming home for me. The four of us would visit in their living room on the beautiful yellow couches, Bill in his wheel chair sharing his thoughts and views on all kinds of things, Allan in the wing back chair that sat next to the staircase, talking about and adding to Bills' stories, and Virginia on the couch across from me bringing up memories that lead to the wonderful stories they shared. As the years went by and Bill and Virginia faced more challenges, Virginia would start out by saying "well, we're still here. Daddy's 96 and I am turning 93 and i do not think we would still be here in our wonderful home if it weren't for Allan taking care of us." Those visits were often the highlight of my time in IL. Positive and uplifting, with Allan rounding up the dogs so that we could all visit. They were like family to me. We would talk about Danville, and people in our lives, catch up with each other, discuss/debate politics, fishing trips, talk about the old neighborhood and who was up to what, and talk about our families. Bill and Allan liked my grandma's ginger cookie recipe and so the last time I was there with Allan and Virginia, I brought the ingredients so that Virginia and I could bake..We had Allan pull out bowls and cookie sheets for us and laughed while we worked.. Then Allan would give us his approval as to whether the cookies were bendy enough. For thirty one years this wonderful family has embraced my family, watched my kids grow up, offered to help us during tough times, been our friends, prayed for and with us, and welcomed us into their home. We have seen first hand how Allan would take his mom and dad to the doctors, to church and the grocery store. We were there through the shingles, loss of Bill's leg, infections, glaucoma, and through many good times that proceeded the rough years..Allan, Bill, and Virginia were the best neighbors any family could ever ask for..Allan you will be missed, not a little but a lot by me and my family.. You may not have lived the life that many of us have lived with your own wife family or kids but you sure added to ours by taking care of your parents and helping them stay in that home and be our neighbors...Love,
