MAUREEN 'RENE' PATRICIA SEBUS Maureen 'Rene' Patricia Sebus, 62, of Parkville, MO, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014 with her family by her side, following a courageous two and a half year battle with cancer. She was born on January 7, 1952 in Kansas City, MO, to David and Dorothy (Cashman) Dwyer. Rene graduated from Bishop Miege High School and received a Bachelor's degree from Avila University. She was employed by PB&J Restaurant Group for the past 25 years, where she worked as a manager in the corporate office. Rene had a great faith in her God and was a longtime member St. Therese Parish in Parkville. She was very devoted to her family, especially her husband, children and grandchildren. Rene had a very strong work ethic and was passionate about everything in her life. She married Leo F. Sebus on July 7, 1979 at St. Therese. He survives of the couple's home in Parkville. Additional survivors include two sons, Leo F. (Trey) Sebus, III and wife, Carrie of Parkville, MO, and Kyle Sebus and wife, Joni of Kansas City, MO; her siblings, Michael Dwyer (Sally) of Olathe, KS, Janet Otis (Jim) of Chesterfield, MO, Terry Dwyer (Patty) of Leawood, KS, Kevin Dwyer (Julie) of Roswell, GA, and Cheri Rhodes (Mike) of Kansas City, KS; two grandchildren, Ryland and Carson and a new grandbaby on the way; and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 31, 2014 at St. Therese Catholic Church with Rev. Joe Cisetti as celebrant. Burial will follow at the Laurel Hill Cemetery, Weston, MO. The Rosary will be prayed at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday at St. Therese, where the family will receive friends until 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Breast Center Fund at St. Luke's Foundation and may be left in care of the Meyers Northland Chapel, 401 Main St. Parkville, MO 64152. I was so saddened when I heard about Rene's passing in the Miege Matters publication. I grew up with Rene at St. Ann's, Cure of Ars and at BM High. One of my oldest friends although we didn't see each other often. I will definitely miss her. My very late condolences

I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Rene. I worked for her as a bookkeeper for many years. I went from being afraid of her to loving her. She was a great mentor and friend to me. She would talk so much about her family and I knew how much she loved and adored all of you. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
