Maurice Henry Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 19, 2024.
Maurice Hugh Henry, aged 85, of Amity, Westmoreland, passed away on February 22, 2024, in Mandeville, Manchester. Maurice was a hard worker, known for his career as an owner-operator of trucks and a dedicated farmer, particularly passionate about raising goats. He was a sociable individual who enjoyed engaging with others and had a knack for storytelling. Maurice had a love for cooking and barbecuing, always appreciating compliments for his culinary skills.

Maurice will be remembered for his love of trucking, working on trucks, and tending to his herd of goats. He was a devoted grandfather who cherished spending time with his grandchildren, watching cartoons, taking them to the beach or Mayfield Falls, and sharing his knowledge about farming, trucks and life. He was always ready with a parable. Although he put on a grumpy front, Maurice had a soft heart for his nieces and nephews, and all his family.

He is survived by his daughters Pauline Henry Powell (Alvarick), Marcia Mayhand (Eric), daughter-in-law Janet Henry, siblings Ruth Henry, Gerald Henry (Cislyn), James Henry, 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Maurice was preceded in death by his wife, Letitia Henry, son Hopeton Henry, grandson Nicholas Henry-Powell, and siblings Pauleen Tyrell, Joseph, Basil, and Owen.

Maurice's wish to be cremated has been honored. A small service has been planned for close family and friends to gather and celebrate his life. Maurice's legacy as a hardworking and sociable individual will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved him.
