For Max

January 11, 2009

I still feel my eyes get watery when I look at pictures of max that I have. He was such a fun person to be around, and I am so happy that I had the pleasure of knowing him. Max brought many smiles and laughs to us all and we will never forget that.
I cannot explain why it took such a long time for me to write, but I guess I can say that I felt it was a good time to do so now.
I miss seeing max rock out on his bass and I miss seeing him around, as I feel we all do.
Just know that just as max is forever in my heart, the entire Glazier family is as well.
Please find peace and know that max touched many lives in a very positive way.

Dear Glazier Family,

I had the pleasure of being Max's RLC last year at SCGSAH. Max lived next door to me. The news was very shocking to me and it hit me very hard because of the relationship that Max and I had together. Max was one of my favorite "Govies." I will always remember his smile and how he made me laugh. May God watch over you as you go through this sad time.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Glazier,
I am very sorry to hear about your son Max. While I did not personally know Max, I've listened to the Artichokes, and I think Max was an exceptional bassist. He seemed like a really caring person with a lot of talent and potential. However I am quite sure that God has fully opened his arms to Max, and he's very happy in heaven right now looking down on us all. I sincerely hope your fond memories will bring again smiles upon your faces. Best wishes : ]

Peace, love, empathy.

Dear Glazier Family,

Words fail. How can we express such sorrow? Our son, Matthew, was a friend of Max. I have lived in fear of potential tragedy in our own family, and shock over the loss of Max engulfs me. Taylor did a magnificent job inspiring us to let Max shine through our own lives. My prayer is that through this tragedy there will be blessings, too, for you and all those touched by such a gentle spirit.

Emilie Johnston

August 27, 2008

Dear Glazier Family,
at this moment in time words fail me. I could say something obvious like Max was a great kid or that he was a very talented and passionate artist, and that everyone who knew him will miss him. But none of that seems to suffice what I am truly trying to express. I never knew Max on a personal level, but I do know lots of people that did. Seeing their pain, I wonder, but find it incredible to imagine, the immense amount of pain that his own family is in. You have my deepest sympathy, and I'm sure today will be one of many sad days to come. I wish I could be there, but since I can't, if there's anything I can do to help, please don't hesitate to ask.
Sincerely,
Emilie

Dear Glazier family, let me start out by saying how sorry I am for your loss. I knew Max, we hung out last summer and saw eachother at a couple of his shows. My older brother Matthew Hellman was a good friend of Max's. I am sure Matt wishes he could be at the funeral and be here for you and all the others who loved Max. I am terribly sorry for this pain, and I am here if you ever need anything. So many people loved Max, and he will always be loved and missed greatly. He was a wonderful person who brought joy to every single person he met. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. I am so thankful for the little time I was able to spend with such a talented and wonderful person.

I can't express exactly what it was when i heard what happened. I was cartainly not as close to Max as were many of the others who knew him, but i did know him, and i liked him. It's difficult to find hte right words with which to offer condolences to a family that, for all the kind words, has to be going through unimaginable pain. We have all lost a great talent, and an even greater human being.

Dear Laura and Family: We are at a complete loss of what to say... We remember Max as the "super kid" here in Roanoke... always surpassing Kathryn with his milestones and then later with all of his achievements... I can't even imagine your pain... but I do know you, Laura... I know your hugh heart and your strength... you will get through this ... May Max rest in the arms of God and may God bless your family with peace of heart. Sincerely and with Love, The Lawryszeks.

Glazier Family, I am so sorry for the loss of your son and my friend Max. Although I know there are no words to describe the situation and pain that many are suffering due to this tragic event, I can tell you this; Max was one of the most wonderful guys I ever had the priveledge to know and grow up with, through boy scouts, school, and listening to him play his guitar with The Artichokes. Max truly knew how to bring light into other people's world's, just with that big white-toothed grin of his, and his infectious personality and laugh. I will truly miss your son, and his life-loving attitude, as will all others who knew him and the amazing young man he truly was. I give you my condolences, and will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers as you travel together through this painful time. All my love to Max and your family. R.I.P. my friend.

Dear Glazier Family,
We are so so very saddened at the loss of your son. We feel as though we've lost one of our own. Our daughter was friends with Max at the Governors School last year. Our family went to see him play with the Artichokes this summer when they were in Myrtle, and we sat a while and talked with Max afterward. He was a very down to earth, nice guy...and so very talented in so many ways. Laura, we traded a few emails about 9 months ago about our artistic kids and what they might do after high school. I may have worn you out with all of my crazy ideas, but I really saw such an awesome potential in Max. It's rare to come across such a person. We are just heart-broken, and our hearts and prayers are with you all. Please call if there is anything at all that we can do for you. Sincerely,

Peggy & Chris Day

Dear Mike, Laura, Taylor and Mary....
We were stunned and saddened when Aaron told us about Max. I remember seeing him at the Clip Joint and his wonderful shy smile and exuberant personality. I will always carry that in my heart. May God bless and keep you in the peace that only he can provide.

August 25, 2008

To the Glazier Family: My husband and I also came to know Max through my son Zachary NeSmith, while he and Max were in the Visual Arts program together at Governor's School last year. Max's intellect, talent, and engaging personality were easily apparent and certainly captivating to all who came to know him. We parents of Max's classmates across South Carolina are incredibly and indescribably saddened by Max's passing, and heartily pray for comfort and peace for you and your family. Through Zachary and his classmates, I know that Max gave priceless gifts of treasured friendship and wonderful memories to many; gifts that will live on with his memory in the lives of those he touched forever.
