Funeral service for Max Menefee, 84, of Tenaha, Texas, will be held at 2 p.m. today, June 24, 2006, at First United Methodist Church, Tenaha, Texas, with the Rev. James Knight and the Rev. Jim Bradley officiating. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery in Tenaha, Texas. Mr. Menefee passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2006, in Nacogdoches. Born Oct. 30, 1921, in Tenaha, Texas, he was the son of Fannie and Ralph Menefee. Max was married to Charleye Jane Parker Menefee for 64 years and she survives him. Max served in the United States Navy and is a World War II veteran. He made his profession as a rancher and a businessman and was a member of First United Methodist Church. Max was loved deeply by his family and close friends. The family sincerely appreciates the care he received from nurses and doctors at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital, especially Dr. Joe Davis and LVN Mike Bokwich. He is survived by his wife, Charleye; son, Leland Menefee and his wife, Peggy; daughter, Melissa Menefee Covington and her husband, James Paul; son, Mitch Menefee and his wife, Shannon; son, Joe Menefee and his fiancée, Donna McBride; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral directors are Watson and Son Funeral Home, Center, Texas.
