MAX WYMARD Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Oct. 1 to Oct. 3, 2019.
WYMARD MAX ANTHONY

On Saturday, September 28, 2019, Max Anthony Wymard, at age 39, lost his battle with addiction. He is the beloved son of James Anthony Wymard and Sara Cromley Wymard. Max graduated from Central Catholic High School, Class of 1999, where he lettered in soccer. Growing up, Max was an avid baseball player, starting with Squirrel Hill Little League through American Legion baseball. Along with soccer and baseball, Max was a good golfer and a great mogul skier. While he enjoyed many sports as a young man, golf was his favorite. He attended Duquesne University. Max was a compassionate, likable and gregarious young man. His intuition and insights were such that he often successfully assisted his father with jury selection.  He was a talented chef and prolific writer. In addition to his parents, he will be missed by his beloved sister and brother in law, Anne Wymard Starz and R. Hagen Starz, and his most favorite person of all his niece, Rian Starz; his uncle and aunt, Joseph and Eleanor Wymard; and a host of many cousins, especially those closest in age, including Josh Wymard, Peter Wymard (Bonnie Barrett Wymard), Francis Wymard (Katie Weeks Wymard) and Katherine Wymard. Preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Marie Wymard; and James and Irene Cromley; and uncles Bill, Jack, and his very close uncle Fran Wymard, and Richard Cromley. Max believed strongly in his Catholic faith and relished his years at Central Catholic High School. He found great joy in the friendships he made there with his fellow students, Brothers and Priests. Central Catholic gave him a strong sense of belonging and self-worth. For those reasons, in lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Max Anthony Wymard Scholarship Fund at Central Catholic High School, 4720 Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213. Friends will be received at JOHN A. FREYVOGEL SONS, INC. (freyvogelfuneralhome.com) 4900 Centre Avenue at Devonshire Street on Wednesday October 2nd from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Thursday October 3, Mass of Christian Burial, St. Paul Cathedral 10 a.m. (Everyone please meet at church) Interment in Braddock Catholic Cemetery will be private.

Jim, Sara and Anne,

I know that no words can come close to filling the terrible void Max's passing has caused, but know he was a great guy and friend to many including myself some 22yrs ago. Family meant the world to Max and I pray for you as well as for Max that he is now able to rest from the horrendous grips of addiction.

Dear Wymard Family,

I am very sorry to read about the loss of your son, Max. I remember him so well during his days at Central Catholic. He was always full of life and energy! So sad to see such a young life lost.

While no words will ever fill the void or pain of losing a child, may you be comforted with good memories and consoled that he is now at peace with our Lord.

My continued prayers for all of you.

To the Wymard Family, I am so sorry for your loss. As many do, I have very fond memories of playing baseball (JCC little league in particular), skiing (he was good at moguls!), and golf with Max . He always made me laugh and I can hear his distinctive chuckle even now. Your family and all Max touched are in our thoughts and prayers, with love, John Imbriglia

Max, you were taken from us far too soon. You were the funniest person I've ever known and you could always make me laugh uncontrollably with your quick wit. I'll never forget catching baseballs with you and your dad, Jim. Anytime we got to hang out, I literally had a smile on my face from beginning to end. My parents loved you and you could make them laugh just as much. I can't believe you're gone now, but you will never be forgotten. You touched so many friends lives, we all love you and will miss you dearly. Rest In Peace my friend. You were truly one of a kind. Love ya buddy!
