Maxine Goodin Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 24, 2024.
Maxine Goodin, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, wife, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2024 at the age of 89 surrounded by her loving family.

Born on Dec 1, 1934, in Houlton Maine Maxine was a beacon of light to all who knew her. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love touched the lives of everyone she encountered. She was a devoted wife to Edward Goodin for 51 years, and together they shared a bond that was truly inspiring.

As a mother, Maxine poured her heart and soul into nurturing her children, Joseph Goodin, Lori Landis, George Goodin, Greg Goodin, Peg Bess, John Goodin and Julie McIsaac, instilling in them the values of compassion, resilience, and integrity. She was their guiding light, their source of strength, and her legacy will forever live on in their hearts. Her laughter was contagious, her smile could light up a room, and her presence brought comfort to those in need.

Maxine had a passion for Catholic Church, the Franciscans, volunteering at the Resurrection House for the homeless, gardening and making homemade raspberry liquor with friends. She was a Beautician, top saleswoman for Avon, a nurse's aid and a realtor in her working days. She approached every aspect of life with boundless enthusiasm and grace. Whether she was tending to her garden, cooking delicious meals for her loved ones, or lending a listening ear to a friend in need, she did so with unwavering love and generosity.

Her memory will be forever cherished by her family, her 7 children, her 15 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and her brother Glenn Devoe of Houlton, ME., and a host of other relatives and friends.

Though she may no longer walk beside us, Maxine will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and compassion will continue to inspire us all.

A celebration of Maxine's life will be held in Tilton, New Hampshire in the summer of 2025 at Saint John's Cemetery where she will be placed next to her loving husband J. Edward Goodin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Resurrection House in Sarasota.

May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her loving memory be a blessing to us all.

Maxine had such a great influence on my life. I always wanted to be a hairdresser. Maxine gave me her cosmetology book so I could study it before she enrolled me into Empire Beauty School. After we did that we went to O´Sheas department store and she bought me a blow dryer charm for my bracelet. It was such a special day for the both of us.

Ed and Maxine were my parents´ first and greatest friends in New Hampshire. Many memories were made between our families in our shared neighborhood. My deepest sympathies to all of you on the loss of your mom.
