Lafayette - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 12, 2016 in St. Pius X Catholic Church in Lafayette, Louisiana, for Maxine Easley Richard, 78, who passed away on September 9, 2016, at Lafayette General Medical Center after a short illness.

Reverend Steve LeBlanc, Pastor of St. Pius X Catholic Church will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Maxine, a resident of Lafayette for 51 years, was the daughter of Beatrice Hymel Easley and the late John Easley of Chackbay, Louisiana. She was born on July 8, 1938, in Chackbay, Louisiana, and married Donald Richard of Rayne, Louisiana, on October 21, 1957. They lived in Houston then Lafayette, and had five beautiful children.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 59 years, Donald Louis Richard; her mother, Beatrice Easley (97); three sons and a daughter, Bryan Richard of Rayne, Louisiana; Marria Peterman and her husband Brad of Braden, Florida; Chris Richard and his wife Susan of Lafayette; and Chad Richard of Houston, Texas; eight grandchildren, Brandy, Christie, Rachel, Sarah, Brooke, Andrea, Trey, and Julia; and one great grandchild, Carter. She leaves behind one sister, Mona Hotchkiss, her nephew John David McClain, and her niece Karen (KC) Kelem, and numerous cousins in the Thibodeaux area.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Easley, and her daughter, Gwendolyn Barras.

An avid reader and talented in arts and crafts, she created many beautiful keepsakes for her children and grandchildren. She was truly gifted in needlepoint and crochet. Maxine made everything beautiful.

A devoted mother and grandmother, she was an active parishioner at St. Pius X Catholic Church, and leaves behind many dear friends. She loved traveling, cooking, and most of all her family. She will be dearly missed by all.

The family requests visiting hours be observed Sunday, September 11, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Delhomme Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. by Deacon Scotty Baudoin on Sunday. Visitation will continue on Monday from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand. Funeral Services will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church on Monday at 11:00 a.m.. Burial will be at Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery following the service.

Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, LA is in charge of the funeral arrangements.

I still Miss her beautiful smile at Mass on Sunday mornings. She was a kind and gentle soul Who I am sure is sorely missed by her husband, children and grandchildren. I am sure she is helping out those she can up in heaven.
