Maxwell Riggio Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 5, 2025.
Maxwell Jacob "Max" Riggio, 81, passed away on March 1, 2025, in San Diego, California. A devoted husband, father, and man of faith, Maxwell lived a life rooted in hard work, love, and unwavering belief in God.

Born on January 13, 1944, in San Diego, Maxwell spent his entire life connected to the land he cherished. A true rancher at heart, his hands bore the marks of years spent tending to his animals and working the soil. The wide California skies were both his workplace and his sanctuary, where he found purpose and peace in the rhythm of nature.

In 1968, Maxwell met the love of his life, Becky. Their bond was one of deep devotion and mutual respect, and two years later, they married. Together, they built a life filled with love and faith, raising four children-Anthony, Chris, Allison, and Craig. Family was at the center of everything Maxwell did. Whether teaching his grandchildren to fish, hosting Sunday dinners, or simply sharing stories on the porch, he treasured every moment spent with those he loved.

Maxwell's passion for the outdoors extended beyond ranching. He found solace in hunting at dawn on his land and fishing in quiet streams and local lakes. These pursuits were not just hobbies but ways for him to connect with nature and reflect on life's blessings. He also had a deep appreciation for his community and was a familiar face at local farmers markets-not just as a vendor but as a friend to many. Conversations at his booth flowed as easily as the morning breeze; advice was shared, prayers were offered, and friendships were strengthened.

Faith was the foundation of Maxwell's life. He believed that living by example was the greatest way to share God's love. Whether reading scripture under the open sky or offering kind words to strangers at the market, his faith guided him in all things. To those who knew him, he was a man of grace and humility-strong yet gentle, steadfast yet kind.

Maxwell's legacy is one of faith, family, hard work, and kindness. His laughter will echo through family gatherings for years to come, and his wisdom will continue to shape future generations. Though he is no longer physically present, the love he shared and the lessons he imparted will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

May his memory bring comfort to those who loved him.
