It took me a little longer to come here mainly because I can't believe your gone the hurt is so unreal you are my big sister my only sister my first real best friend and also a second mom to me growing up we spent so much time together while mom and dad worked to support our little family I could always count on you in good times and bad you were my security blanket on more nights than I can remember and my own personal diary that held secrets and numerous pinky promises that day you grabbed my hand and told me the news my heart sank I said I can't believe your leaving me we cried and promised each other to love one another no matter what....I will love you until my last breath and miss you even more....

Megan will be deeply missed by so many. She was courageous and loving and fought her battle with the kind of grace we aspire to have in life. My heart aches for all who loved her, as the loss is truly great.
I wrote a poem about grief that I think is fitting to share here. As the process of grieving can be so hard, it also brings those who mourn together, closer and shines light on our fragile humanity. My love goes out to everyone that will be missing Megan. You are not alone in your heartache.
Light in Loss

There seems to be
So many losses
During this time
Mothers fathers
Sons daughters
Students teachers
Friends and friends
Of friends
Furry feathered
Tragic
Shocking
Peaceful end
To long suffering
Near Far
Known and unknown
The grief
The anguish
The tears and tributes
The songs and prayers
The celebrations
Of life
Have opened
A curtain
That drapes humanity
Light-bearers
Pouring forth
Unbridled love
So strong
So full
That it cracks
And breaks
Hearts wide open
Pouring forth
The light
From within
And it spreads
Far reaching
Into
The dark places
Where hands
Reach out
To the hands
Reaching up
And together
They hold
The whole world
Together
With their love

Megan was not only my cousin, but a wonderful mother and friend. We have always been close and I will cherish every memory from laughter to tears that we were able to share together. My cousin Hollie always said Your first real friends, your best friends are your cousins. and thats what she was for me. I am so deeply sadden by her lose and I extremely miss her, but I know I will see her again one day. Megan always told me that if she lost her battle she would give my father a big kiss for me, and I know she did just that. Heaven surely gained a great angel October 4 th. You will forever be in my heart until we meet again Rest In Peace, I love you always. ❤ ❤
