Services will be held for Melba Attera Woodward, 92, of Myrtle Point, at noon, Saturday, March 7, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2405 Shelley Road in Coquille, with Gail Lambson officiating. Internment will be at Ocean View Memory Gardens in Coos Bay. A viewing will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 6, at Coos Bay Chapel, 685 Anderson Ave.

Melba was born Nov. 8, 1916, in Burley, Idaho, the oldest of 11 children to Isaac Hans and Vera Rebecca (Frost) Jensen. She died March 1, 2009, in Coquille.

Melba married Donald Alma Gibson on Oct. 13, 1933, in Burley. They had six children, Nila Joan Givson, Darryl Eugene Gibson, Gai Alton Gibson, Ramon Leon Gibson, Patricia Colleen Gibson and Larry Dean Gibson. Donald died in may 1962.

Melba married Glenn "Red" Irwin Woodward on Aug. 6, 1962, in Elko, Nev.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as ward librarian both in the Coos Bay Branch and the Coquille Ward. She loved to draw and make sketches. In her later years, her sister, Nadine Jordon, who was an artist, taught her the art of painting. Melba had the special gift of genealogy. She researched and completed family history for her family. Melba loved her family and they dearly loved her.

She is survived by her sons, Darryl and wife, Sharon Gibson and Gail and his wife, Mae Gibson all of American Fork, Utah, and Larry and his wife, Susan Gibson of Harbor; daughters, Nila and husband, Dale Alam of Arlington, Wash., and Pat Cain of Myrtle Point; stepson, Terry and wife, Paulette Woodward of Coos Bay; stepdaughters, Jackie and husband, Meldon Gasner of Winston, Patty Mendelos of Moses Lake, Wash., Donna Whitehall of Okanagan, Wash., and Marie Woodward of Moses Lake; sisters, Norma Frisbee of Emmett, Idaho, Twila Whalen of Brookings, Carol Larson of Renton, Wash., and Linda Morris of Lehi, Utah; 45 grandchildren; 127 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Donald Alma Gibson and Glenn "Red" Woodward; sisters, Wanda Crawford, Vivian Spining, Daisy Lloyd Crawford and Nadine Jordon; brothers, Vernon Jensen and Jerald Jensen; sons, Ramon Leon Gibson and Kenneth Woodward; daughter-in-law, Norma Gibson; and son-in-law, Raymond Cain.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2405 Shelley Road, Coquille, 97423.

Arrangements are under the direction of Coos Bay Chapel, 267-3131.
