Melissa “Missy” Becker

Melissa "Missy" Becker (née Fowler), age 48, passed away peacefully in her home in Orlando on June 3, 2025 after a heroic struggle with brain cancer. She is survived by her loving husband, Nathan Becker, and their children, Lyric (age 14) and Lazar (age 12). She is also survived by her parents, Pam Fowler and B. G. Fowler; and her siblings, Marsha Stein, Shawna Fowler Richardson, and Bryan Fowler.

Missy was born on August 12, 1976, in Anniston, Alabama, and grew up in Orlando, attending Red Bug Elementary, Tuskawilla Middle School and Lake Howell High School. She was a woman known for her adventurous spirit, boundless love and unwavering positivity. She obtained bachelors degrees in physiology and nursing from the University of Central Florida, and was also a certified financial planner. During the course of her education, Missy spent many years working in the hospitality industry, primarily at the Kerryman Pub in Longwood, making many lifelong friends. She was most recently an oncology nurse at the Veterans Hospital in Orlando and previously worked in the bone marrow transplant unit at AdventHealth Orlando. In both roles, she was well respected for her skill and compassionate care of her patients.

Missy brought joy and laughter to almost everyone she met. She had an especially tight-knit group of friends, known as "the squirrels," (Becky, Bevin, Brym, Che, Kelly, Lynnette, Megan, & Tattum) that supported and celebrated each other through their setbacks and milestones. Outside of work, Missy enjoyed her beautiful home and garden, replete with dogs and chickens, time on the lake, snowboarding, kayaking, traveling, and concerts. She will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family and friends, her humor, kindness and ability to just listen.
