Melody DeVries Harrison

Melody DeVries Harrison, age 56 passed away on July 13, 2018. She was born on November 14, 1961 to Rudolph and Karma DeVries, and graduated from Cottonwood High School. She was married to Kurt A. Harrison on November 17, 1982 in the LDS Jordan River Temple.
Melody was an answer to prayers when her parents got a little girl after three boys. As a result, her dad spoiled her. She grew up camping and boating and loved to spend her summers on the lake skiing. Kurt and Melody were high school sweethearts. After Kurt served a full time LDS mission, they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Jordan River Temple. It didn't take long to start their family and welcome three daughters into this world. Early on, Melody made sure her daughters were involved in dance and because of that, together they all grew a love of dance. She helped them to realize their lifelong dreams of owning a dance studio, and helped to make it a success. She has always been lovingly referred to as "Dance Mom" and "Mama Mel" by her dance girls. The light of her life came when she became a grandmother. She adored her grandchildren and wanted to spend as much time with them as possible. One of her last expressions of love was an "I love you" sign to her grandchildren. She touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Melody is survived by her husband: Kurt A. Harrison, daughters: Karesa (Eric) Page, Chauntel (Tyson) Burdette, and Shanalee (Zach) Ellis, mother: Karma Tobler DeVries, siblings: Kerry DeVries, Jeffery (Shanan) DeVries, sister-in-law: Cindee DeVries, and 5 beloved grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father: Rudolph DeVries, brother: Kurt DeVries, and sister-in-law: Marilyn DeVries.
Her family will receive friends on Friday, July 20, 2018 between 6:00pm and 8:00pm and also Saturday, July 21, 2018 one hour prior to services.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 12:00pm at the Jordan Oaks Stake Center, located at 8117 South Leslie Drive (3905 West), in West Jordan.
Interment will take place at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park South Valley, located at 13001 South 3600 West in Riverton.
