Melvin Franklin passed from this life on Friday February 24, 2017 in Glenpool, Oklahoma at the age of 72 years 1 month and 12 days. He was born in Enid, Oklahoma to Theodore Franklin and Mary Swanson.
Melvin was a member of the Abundant Life of Texoma. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam war. Melvin worked as a plumber, mechanic and truck driver. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, watching western movies, and singing while playing his guitar.
Mr. Franklin is survived by his sister, Shirley Delaware; brother, David Franklin; children, Sherry Cross, Darla Hibdon, Chad Franklin, Breesy Hopper, and Brandi Ricks; grandchildren, Amberly Phipps, Crystal Stapleton, Zachary Hibdon, Shane Cross, Kasey Hibdon, Ashley Hibdon, Adrianna Hibdon, Candi Beach, Sheldon, Riley, Korbin, Aiden and Zoella; great-grandchildren, Preston, Imagine, Brady, Colden and Stetson.
Mr. Franklin was preceded in death by his son, Chad Franklin; parents, Ted and Mary Swanson; biological father, Theodore Franklin; and brother, David Franklin.
A memorial service will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday February 28th at the Spirit Life Church, 5345 S. Peoria, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74105 with Bishop Randall Drake officiating. A second memorial service will be at 4:00 PM Saturday, March 4th at the Abundant Life Texoma, 1307 North Washington, Durant, Oklahoma with Chuck Barrineau officiating.

I knew Melvin for a short time, but he expressed that the best time in his life was having his entire family in one pew in the church. It was the best time in his life.

Melvin was my late husbands friend when got married he became our friend. He was a fun loving guy and always had something to say. I'm sure he never meet a stranger he was everyone's friend. That's the Melvin I knew.
