Melvin Parker

Melvin N. Parker of Boca Raton, Florida for the past 40 years, formerly of Merrick, NY died in his sleep on Tuesday, October 3, 2023. Mel was born Nathaniel Melvin Glovinsky in New York City in April, 1927 and lived in The Bronx until 1963. He was a proud graduate of The Rhodes School. Mel served our country in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII, achieved the rank of Sergeant and enjoyed all things aviation. Mel had a long and successful career in the floor covering industry, starting in the 1950s with Handy Andy and Mastic Tile, the 60s with Jack Pintchik, the 70s with G Fried and finally founding Rapid Carpets. Mel was the loving husband to his devoted wife Nannette (nee Silverman) of 67 years, who predeceased him in 2018, and whom he cared for during the last seven years of her life during her fight with dementia. Mel was a kind and gentle man. He was an avid golfer and when not playing golf loved being with family and friends and relating stories of the past. Mel was the loving son of Morris and Shirely Silverberg (who predeceased him), the devoted father of Robert and his partner Miriam, Gary and his wife Kathy, Craig and his wife Monica, and his six grandchildren, Zachary, Alexander, Mallory, Katie, Matthew and Emily.
