SCHREIBER – Melvin D., 77, of Everett, was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007. He was born Sept. 17, 1930, in Adams Township, Cambria County, a son of the late Harry A. Schreiber Sr. and Emma Mae (Ritchey) Schreiber. He was previously married to Madolyn L. (Ritchey) Schreiber, who passed away on Sept. 4, 1988. He is survived by their children, Rick H. Schreiber, Everett; Michael A. Schreiber, and wife, Nancy (Dicken), Breezewood; Greg L. Schreiber, and wife, Peggy (Johnson), Clearville; Brian G. Schreiber, and wife, Elaine (Barkman), Everett; Byron D. Schreiber, and wife, Terry (Seese), New Paris; Brenda M. Schreiber, Flintstone, Md.; Todd N. Schreiber, and wife, Debbie (Fischer), Crystal Spring; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Naomi R. Miller, Johnstown, and a brother, William R. Schreiber, DuBois. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Brett W. Price; a daughter, Annette S. (Schreiber) Cornell; a son, Melvin “Butch” Schreiber; a sister, Mary Lou (Kring) Cotton; and three brothers, Harry Schreiber, John G. Schreiber, and Henry A. Schreiber Jr. Mr. Schreiber was a member of the Snake Spring Valley Church of the Brethren, and had great care for the continuation and support of the church. He served in the United States Army with the 12th EBC, Fort Carson, Colo., as a light truck driver receiving the Good Conduct Medal. After his military service, Melvin worked as a mechanic for Caro Trucking, Everett, and then became a truck driver for Everett Trucking, LSG Trucking, Foor’s Trucking, and then drove for S and H Trucking until his retirement. He enjoyed caring for horses and horseback riding and was a great father, grandfather and brother, who will be greatly missed. Funeral service will be held Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007, at 4 p.m. in the Chapel at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, the Rev. Janet E. Sell officiating. Friends may call at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett, from 2 p.m. Sunday until the hour of service.
