Harlan S. "Rich" Richardson, II

71, of Sugarcreek, died Monday, Jan. 11, 2021 at the Truman House in New Philadelphia following a lengthy battle with renal failure. He was born in Coshocton on Feb. 4, 1949 to the late Don and Martha (Wable) Richardson and married Sandra Stutzman on June 1, 1974. She survives. He drove dozer for Hardy Coal and was a steel worker for Aleris. He served in the Air Force as a medic during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Sugarcreek American Legion. He enjoyed playing cards, hunting for mushrooms, spending time with family and especially enjoyed his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Troy Richardson of N. Canton and Cassie (Jon) Mast of Berlin; two grandchildren, Tyler and Evelyn Mast; and his two brothers, Colin (Sharon) Richardson of Ft. Worth, TX and DJ (Mel) Richardson of West Lafayette. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Tim Richardson.

Private family services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek with family friend Tom Troyer officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the American Legion. The family would like to remind people that organ donation helps save lives.
