Melvin Hubert Thompson, 63, of Lake Park, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born in Valdosta on May 22, 1945, to the late James Edward and Kathleen Blanton Thompson. Mr. Thompson loved fishing and spending time with his grandson.He is survived by his wife, Patsy Thompson of Lake Park; two sons, Andrew Thompson of Lake Park and Shawn Thompson of Cairo; one daughter, Melissa Thompson of Cairo; two grandsons, Colby Dalton Thompson and Shelby Thompson; one brother, James Mac Thompson of Valdosta; and good friend, Wally Dennis.Graveside funeral services with burial to follow will be held Monday, Aug. 11, 2008, at 2:30 p.m. at Sunset Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Molly Danner officiating. The family will receive friends from noon until 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
