I just heard that Merle is no longer with us. That seems such ordinary phrase for someone so unordinary, so in the moment of living life. My experiences with Merle are varied but more than anything she was my friend. She had an honesty and once a friend, always a friend. I am so saddened that we have all lost such a very nice person. Such a lucky family you are to have Merle for you mother and grandmother!!

Kennedy Family....Merle was such an inspiration for me. I was 18 when I first met her. I was awed by her courage , her strength, her charm. She always had that beautiful smile and laugh and of course great stories of "do you remember when". She had the most loving heart and a great spirit. I will miss visiting her and sending her postcards but she will always be in my thoughts.

Lea and Family: It was with sadness, but warm memories, that I heard of your mom's passing. Her beautiful smile and steadfast way were a beacon to many family and friends. My deepest sympathy to you and the Kennedy family.

We were shocked to learn of Merle's passing because she was always a person who just simply, was always "just there" for whoever needed to seek advice or require a word of encouragement. I met Merle while a Regina Jaycee many years ago when she was a mentor to the group through the Chamber of Commerce. She was filled with love and wisdom and a very great abundance of ability in whatever task she took on. I was able to speak with her on a trip to Regina a year ago and found the same upbeat nature that was her hallmark. Everyone who knew her loved her and she will forever remain in the hearts of so many whose lives she touched in so many ways. My wife Gay joins me in expressing our deepest sympathies to Lea,Lorne and MaryLyn and their families and we know that they have been enriched and will be comforted with the memory of a Mother and Grandmother who loved them deeply and they in return for her. We all loved Merle Kennedy and we shall never forget this remarkable woman. She will be dearly missed by all. May she rest in peace.

I am so sad to hear of Merle's passing. She was like a surrogate Mom to me (and my siblings) and came into our lives at a very difficult time. Her empathy, understanding and sense of humour were very much appreciated by us.

Dear Lea: I was saddened to hear of the passing of your Mom, this past Monday. Whenever I met your Mom she had that wonderful smile and was truly a people person. She had a quiet dignity and grace about her, and she will be missed. Thinking of you at this time,

I was fortunate to have worked with Merle in the early 1980's at Tourism Saskatchewan. She was a devout and steadfast supporter of everything that was good about Saskatchewan and will be sorely missed by many.
