MERLIN O. JUVRUD
PHARR - Merlin O. Juvrud was born November 6, 1917 and died July 7, 2011. Merlin was born in Henning, Minnesota; married Helen Motz in 1938 and graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1942. He was employed in a critical war industry in New Jersey during World War II. After the war, he was hired by RCA and worked there for the rest of his career. He took early retirement in 1976 and he and Helen lived in an RV full-time and traveled around the United States for seven years. They eventually settled in Paradise Park in Pharr, Texas where they both lived until Helen died in 2006. He was also predeceased by his brothers, sisters and grandson Kim Bice. He is survived by son Thomas (Reba), stepson Don Bice (Phyllis) and daughters Patricia Whitney and Jennifer Gipe, nine grandchildren, numerous great- and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He and Helen were long-time members of Our Savior Lutheran Church in McAllen. His three favorite activities were fishing, dancing and reading a good mystery. He also loved to throw a great party. His unconditional support for his family, his generosity, good nature and dry wit will be missed. A memorial service will be held in the fall.
