Michael Abraham Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Feb. 19 to Feb. 20, 2023.
"Perhaps grace is our tutor in love; perhaps the recognition of our commonality, our banality, our everydayness as subjects is the bridge to the world in which we come to celebrate and glory in our differences. Perhaps the reorientation I am proposing could make, of mortal enemies, respectful neighbors." Michael Joseph Abraham https://3quarksdaily.com/3quarksdaily/2023/02/thinking-of-you-on-grace.html

What validates a human's existence? Achievement? Shall I be gauche and trot out my son's pedigree? Look into Michael Joseph Abraham, we simply do not have the space. Graceful insight and lovely luminosity, touching thousands of souls throughout his journey on this earth - now we are getting closer. However, my son would smile at the whole premise, scold me with those x-ray eyes: "Dad, since when does human existence need validation?"

Magic!! Conjuring kindness, mischievous mirth, love and lots of happy; if Michael was there, it was always afoot. He loved books, writing, a strong cup of coffee, a good walk, and an even better story, but what Michael loved most were people and anyone lucky to encounter his presence was never the same. Michael's spirit and presence are in his writing, his family, and friends. He inspired and will be happy to haunt all of us with his combination of kindness, care, life-love, people, and literature.

Dr. Michael Joseph Abraham was born on March 9, 1995, and passed away on the evening of February 5, 2023. He is survived by his brother, Adrian Patrick, his sister, Caroline A'lana, his mother, Lisa, his father, Joseph, grandparents, John and Lana Emery, and Afton Abraham, many cherished cousins, aunts, uncles, and a multitude of beloved friends.

The journey does not end here, and we won't say do not cry, for not all tears are an evil, but I will say thank you. THANK YOU to my beloved boy who wished upon a star, snipped the strings, and helped a wooden man become a real dad.

My beautiful boy - you are one of the very brightest lights in my life; I love your heart and the kindness that is expressed so often, your courage and love of adventure, your desire to love and care for those around you, your quest for knowledge, your awareness of the struggles people encounter and the unwavering support you always gave - you are beautiful in every way, and I am so blessed to have been your mami.

He was my best friend, he made me brave - made me worthy - he taught me the power of my own words. He was my greatest teacher, and I lived in the worlds that he made for us.He walked with me, and I trusted him with our path. He would never let me stray. He was an artist - with his words and with his life - and through his eyes I learned what was beautiful. He was a leader, and I've been proud to follow him since I could stand on my own two feet. You were my big brother, my first hero, and I'll chase after you for the rest of my life.

Until next time~

As a little girl, unsure of what she would become, scared, and riddled with anxiety, the only one who knew exactly who I would be was my big brother. Thank you, Michael, for seeing the magic in me and making me believe it; I wouldn't be the person I am today without YOUR magic. I can't wait until the day we can wander barefoot hand in hand through the forest making potions and spells as our laughter echoes off the pine trees, sharing stories and understanding one another unlike anyone else could. The next time we wander through the trees I will have many stories to share, but until then, thank you for sharing your magic with me. I will cherish it and use it to make you proud. Love you in this life and the next - your seeester.

A celebration of life (Michaelstock) will take place this summer where we will gather, tell stories, listen to music, and dance - all things he loved.

I am stunned and saddened to learn of Michael's passing. I am the editor of 3 Quarks Daily where Michael wrote a monthly column for the last two years. When he failed to turn in his column to me for the third time last week, I wrote to him and asked if he was okay. And when he did not respond for three days, I Googled his name and was brought here, to this page. I am so very sorry for your loss! At the moment, I am in a state of shock so don't know what to say except to wish his family and friends strength. My email is s.abbas.raza.1 [at] gmail [dot] if someone wants to contact me. Perhaps we could commemorate Michael's memory at 3 Quarks Daily. I am so sorry!

I am so saddened to hear of the loss of such a special soul. Michael filled the room with joy, laughter, mischief - and that was as a middle schooler. I was so lucky to learn from him, with him, and bask in the light that he shared with everyone around him.

I am so sorry for your loss. The world lost a fierce power for love and joy.

Dear Abraham Family,
Our hearts break with your hearts at the loss of your dear son, Michael. We have such fond memories of him when our boys were young. He was an extraordinary person, so talented with expression, funny and engaging, and the world is a sadder place without his light shining. May those joy filled memories give you strength and the power of grace sustain you at this most tender time of loss. Sending love, Mauzy family
