Michael "Mike"
Allen
(aka Moe and Doop)
July 16, 1953 - March 13, 2023
Our hearts were shattered on March 13, 2023, when Mike Allen passed away at the age of 69. Our warrior lost his battle against a very rare appendix cancer.
Mike was born in Vallejo, California on July 16, 1953, to Paul and Jane Allen. When he was ten years old his family relocated to Hanford, California. When he was fifteen years old his family then relocated to Santa Rosa where he attended Montgomery High School for his Junior and Senior years. After graduation he worked for Kmart in Santa Rosa beginning as a receiving clerk working his way up to Assistant Manager. While at Kmart he met the love of his life Karen Stefenoni. They were married on August 10, 1974, and have been together a total of 50 years. In 1979 they were blessed with the birth of their daughter Jennifer. Then they were doubly blessed again in 1982 with the birth of their second daughter Janette.
On July 21, 1986, Mike began a long career in the beer industry when he joined Eagle Distributing in Santa Rosa. He began in the warehouse, then became a keg driver advancing quickly into sales where he then proved himself to be promoted to sales manager and ultimately promoted to pricing coordinator. He was set to retire this July. Mike loved his job as a "bud man" and Eagle Distributing had become family to him.
Mike was very active in the local Sonoma County men's softball league. As a young adult he played on many teams until he created his own team, Joe's Place (sponsored by his in-laws Hank and Zola Stefenoni's bar, Joe's Place in Sebastopol). Mike played years of softball, hosting many tournaments as well.
Mike was an avid sports fan -- loved his Bay Area teams the Giants & A's. He was a die-hard 49er fan. He attended many games and was even a ticket holder at Candlestick Park for many years with his dad Paul Allen. Mike is most remembered for sporting his bright red #16 Joe Montana jersey with a Budweiser in hand. He was devoted to the red and gold until his very end.
Mike had been active for many years with the Men R Pigs charity foundation formed through Eagle Distributing. He helped run this non-profit which was well known for its annual golf tournaments at Windsor Golf Course year after year where they raised money for a local individual they chose to support that was battling a life-threatening illness and/or cancer. This charity was very successful for many years.
Mike was the rock of his family, and his family was his pride and joy. He was a loving husband, devoted father and proud Papa to Brayden, Kylie, Ryker, and Skylar. He loved attending his grandkids sporting and school events. He coached Brayden's Windsor Little League team for many years instilling not only the love for the game of baseball but invaluable wisdom that the boys will carry with them for life. Not to mention he was the top requested coach in the league. Mike went on later in life to also Assistant Coach his grandson Ryker's Rohnert Park Little League team too. He loved being out on the soccer/softball fields cheering his granddaughters Kylie and Skylar on as well. Each of his grandkids were so special to him.
Mike was a Tubbs fire survivor. He was overwhelmed by the loss of losing everything, but he channeled all his sadness to rebuild and get his wife, their two dogs and him home. It was a long journey, but he made it happen.
Mike was predeceased by his parents Paul & Jane Allen and his in-laws Hank and Zola Stefenoni. He is survived by his wife Karen Allen, daughters Jennifer Colletto (Jason) and Janette Hoburg (Larry), grandkids Brayden & Kylie Colletto and Ryker and Skylar Hoburg, Sister Michele Bryson (Bruce) and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins and his beloved dogs Stella and Augie.
Mike will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who were fortunate to know him. He was a soft-spoken man with a heart of gold who loved to party and live life to the fullest. It was a traumatic end to his life story that wasn't over yet. Rest easy now Mike, Daddy and Papa.
Mike's service will be held on March 31, 2023, at Pleasant Hills Memorial Park & Mortuary in Sebastopol, 1700 Pleasant Hill Rd. Sebastopol, Ca 95472. Phone (707) 823-5042.
Viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Service begins at 12:00 p.m. with burial immediately following. Reception will follow the funeral service (location TBD).
Flowers welcomed, or monetary donations can be made to ACPMP (Appendix Cancer Research Foundation), 491 Baltimore Pike #177, Springfield, PA 19064-3810. We need to find a cure for this very rare cancer, may no one ever get this again.
