Michael Anderson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 3, 2006.
Son of Virgil and Eunice Anderson, passed away August 3, 2006, in the arms of his best friend. His death was due to a welding accident at his business in Wasilla, Alaska.

Michael was born in Oakridge, Oregon, on January 25, 1958. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1976. In 1977 he became an Alaska resident, where he worked in canneries, Red Dog Mine, M&S Steel and built his business, Anderson Boats and Aluminum Works.

He is known for his optimism, energy, loyalty, laughter, radiant smile, hunting, fishing, welding and boat building.

He is survived by his son, Mitchell Anderson of Wasilla, Alaska; parents Virgil and Eunice Anderson of Crescent Lake, Oregon; sister Debbie Hefley, niece Michelle, her husband Manuel Lopes and great nephew Gabriel Beltran, all of Ripon, California; brother Kevin and sister-in-law Lynn Anderson of Cottage Grove, Oregon; fiancée Debra Criss of Wasilla, Alaska; best friends Kemit, Jerry, Brice, Terry, Don and Curtis.

Ashes were released at Little Susitna River August 11, where a celebration of life took place with a gathering of about 100 people from around the United States. On August 12 family and very close friends gathered at Talkeetna Mountains to release Michael's ashes back to earth. His father and brother also brought his ashes home to Oregon.

I'm so sorry to hear about Mr. Anderson's passing. I did not know him but my brother Darin did. I happened to run across this article by accident while I was looking for information online regarding my family. I am the daughter of Doug Freeny and Pamela Salisbury. My mother had told me that we had a cousin in Wasilla but unfortunately I never met him even though we were in the same state. Once again let me say how sorry I am to hear of his passing. Darin and I lost our mother in 2003 and I know how sad it is to lose a loved one.

No bond is as great as that between a parent and child. My deepest condolences are with you as you grieve. Remember that your father will be with you always. I haven't seen Mike for 30 years since we graduated though I will always remember his quick smile and friendship.
