Michael Archibald Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 21, 2022.

Michael Steven Archibald, 42

Michael Steven Archibald, 42, of Wewahitchka, Florida, passed away on October 15, 2022, from heart failure.

Michael was born March 2, 1980, to Steven Leon Archibald and Lana Buttars in Tremonton, Utah. He grew up in Garland, Utah, and graduated from Bear River High School in 1998, where he was active in FFA. His time in FFA kindled a love of livestock and influenced his future career. Michael served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Barcelona, Spain, from 1999 to 2001.

Michael attended BYU-Idaho, graduating with a bachelor's degree in animal science. He later completed an MBA from Northwest Nazarene University. While in Rexburg, he worked for the BYU-Idaho Livestock Center. After graduation, he worked at Agri Beef in American Falls, Idaho; Moses Lake, Washington; and Parma, Idaho. He then became General Manager of Deseret Cattle Feeders in Garden City, Kansas. He spent the last seven years as the General Manager of Deseret Cattle and Timber in northern Florida and was recently promoted to Vice President of the Ranches Division.

At BYU-Idaho, Michael met Deana Wiser from Blackfoot, Idaho. Michael loved Deana's outgoing personality, beautiful smile, and love of horses. She was the perfect match for him. Michael and Deana were married on August 20, 2004, in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. They were blessed with five children, Allie, Jared, Travis, Adam and Drew. He was so proud of his children and their accomplishments.

Michael lived his dream life with Deana and his kids on the ranch. He enjoyed riding horses with his family, building projects, riding dirt bikes and motorcycles, helping his kids with their 4-H steers, and spending time with his family. He served as the branch president of the Mexico Beach LDS branch in Florida at the time of his passing.

We will miss his smile and humor; he was a big tease. Michael was a hard worker and never gave less than his best. He had a rock-solid testimony of the gospel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He is survived by his wife and five children; his father, Steven Archibald; and his siblings, Lisa (Joseph) Robins, Emily (Benjamin) Burke, Sherri (Scott) Furness, and Ryan Archibald. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lana Archibald; and his wife's parents, Dean and Barbara Wiser.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 11 am at the Blackfoot Northwest Stake Center, 100 N 740 W, Blackfoot, Idaho. Viewings will be held on Friday, October 21, from 5-7 pm at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot and before the funeral on Saturday from 9:30-10:45 am at the church. Interment will be in the Grove City Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared with family at www.hawkerfuneralhome.com. Services will be available to stream on the Hawker Funeral Home website.

Michael was certainly one-of-kind and will be deeply missed by all who had the joy of knowing him. We became friends on a beef industry leadership trip, (Young Cattlemen’s Conference) in 2015 and stayed in touch through cattle conventions and meetings through the years. Michael was one of those guys that always encouraged everyone around him to be better. He was humble, kind and was sure to bring a sense of humor to the room. One of the biggest impressions Michael left on us as his peers is how steady and consistent he was in being a living example of faith and service for the highest good. The cattle industry lost a wonderful young leader and human. Michael was an extremely proud and devoted family man who cherished his wife and children very much. We send our hugs, prayers and heartfelt condolences to Michael’s family during this tragic time of grief, especially Deana and the kids. And, we will continue to lift you up in the weeks, months and years ahead!
May Michael Rest In Peace.

I was shocked and saddened to learn of Mike´s passing and send my condolences to his family. I knew Mike as Elder Archibald. We were assigned the same apartment in Mallorca, Spain. He and I were so different, yet we became fast friends. He was a great leader, hard working, funny, faithful, and pure country! I have so many great memories of him and our time serving in "el quinto pino." I hope someday I can share them with his family.

¡Para siempre Dios esté con vos!

I was a fellow missionary with Michael in Spain. We were in the same zone in Mallorca for 8 months. He was humble, happy, and had a thick farm accent in his Spanish. It brought a lot of smiles. I recall one time walking through the city and him saying "Elders we are going to baptize the hell out of these people!" He said it with an excited smile and laugh. I´ve only seen him a couple of times since then. We rode to a mission reunion together once and he was excited about the Ford Mustang he currently was driving. He was funny and always kind. I´m so sorry for his family´s loss. May God bless and comfort you all.

Our hearts are breaking for you,Steve. We loved Michael like one of our own! He was a best friend, a brother, and a wonderful influence on Landon. I think he and Lana are mainly responsible for the good man Landon is today. He was one of the best delivery boys we ever had. So honest, willing, and a hard worker! We will always be grateful for the Archibald Family in our lives and the perfect example you have been to us. We love and appreciate you and pray for comfort for you all.

Michael was my first friend and best friend since 1st grade. We were inseparable as children and our parents joked about us making a path through the fields to each other´s houses because we walked back and forth to play together so often. I have so many great memories growing up with him and the Archibald family. I can´t think of a better person than Michael. He was always honest kind and humble. He was always a great example of how to live your life to everyone around him. He lived an amazing life and I don´t think there´s ever a time someone could say anything negative about him. I can´t believe he is gone at such a young age. He will live on in many people´s heart´s.

Deana and family. Our love, thoughts and prayers are with you. We remember you and your family living in Parma and how much fun and joy you brought into the ward. We are blessed to know you. When our son Kent interviewed to work at The ranch in Florida Michael was one of the interviewers. Kent asked us if we remembered Michael. We told him yes! We love their family. We didn´t spend very many years in the same town but you and Michael made a difference in our lives and we are blessed to know you. We love you and are praying for you. Been many years since we have seen Michael. Caught up with him in Kansas at one point while we also lived there. Went to high school with him and knew him more as rakin' red. Not sure he liked it, but he sure got it a lot. Great guy, funny, friendly and will be missed. Our condolences to the Archibald family.
