Michael Arruda Obituary
Born in New Bedford, a son of Carl and Carol (Ward) Arruda of Dartmouth, he was raised in Dartmouth and had resided in Marion for the last 15 years.
Mike was a graduate of Dartmouth High School, class of 1984 and attended Bristol Community College. Mike excelled in sports while there and was most proud of captaining the 1983 Super Bowl Champion football team which has been inducted into the Dartmouth High School Hall of Fame.
He was a career salesman and most recently worked as a real estate agent.
He was an avid fan of all the New England sports teams and enjoyed golfing and boating. Mike had a special love of animals and especially his dog Nikki.
Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are two daughters, Maggie and Riley Arruda; a brother, Jack Arruda and his wife Carmel; and a sister, Susan Pielech and her husband Stephen, all of Dartmouth. He was especially fond of his nieces and nephews: Alyssa, Lindsey, Tess and Jack Arruda, Benjamin, Kristen and John Bonito.
His Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 9:30am in St. Mary's Church, 783 Dartmouth St., Dartmouth. Burial will be in South Dartmouth Cemetery. For online tributes please visit: www.waring-sullivan.com

Sending our condolences to the entire Arruda Family. (Jack and Sue will no doubt know us best.) Because we are in Florida, we were unable to pay our respects in person, but we want to assure you that our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
I remember Mike as a "barrel-chested" young man with a constant smile and warm greeting in the halls of DHS. My husband was his football coach and has fond memories of Michael's infectious laugh and of how he was liked and respected by his coaches and fellow players. We shall miss him.

I just learned of Mike's passing this evening. My thoughts and prayers are with the Arruda family. Throughout school Mike always sat in front of me every year. My maiden name was Augustine. Mike was a great guy and always had the biggest smile. I am truly sorry for your loss.

I was deeply shocked and saddened to hear of your tragic loss. Although my life has taken me far from Dartmouth, I have fantastic memories of "Mikey" that started at the school bus stop through his enviable sporting endeavours. He was a funny, likable, mannerly lad that has clearly made an impression on all that met him.
