Michael Ballard Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 11, 2024.
Michael Douglas Ballard, 59, of Pelzer, SC went to be with the Lord on May 28, 2024, after a short battle with lung cancer.

He was born in Williamston, SC on July 18, 1964, to Sue Bonds Ballard Campbell of Anderson and the late Marion Milton Ballard. He attended Belton Honea Path High School.

Known as "Mikie," and "Pop" to Jaxon & Reagan, he said, "they were his feel-good of the day," and "these two make my world go round." Michael enjoyed being in the yard and growing plants. He also liked going to yard sales and the jockey lot. He loved his fur baby, Houdini, the dog.

Michael was employed for the past ten years with Trans Tech, a Wabtec Company, manufacturer of railway products. Prior to that, he was a crane operator and had worked for Belton Metal Company for eighteen years.

He is survived by his son, Eric Ballard, (Shelby) of Easley, grandchildren, Jaxon & Reagan; sister, Sherry B. Rathod (Dhiren) of Charlotte, NC; brothers, James Ballard & Mark Ballard (Tracie) both of Anderson; nieces & nephews.

Michael's companion, Jan Moore, helped make the last year as comfortable as it could have been. The family would also like to thank Hospice of the Upstate for their support.

A graveside service was held on May 31, 2024, at the Garden of Memories, 151 Garden of Memories Rd., Belton, SC. Pastor Wayne Adams of Riverside Baptist, Anderson officiated the service. Gray Mortuary of Pelzer served the family.
