Mr. Bethell was a fantastic teacher. when i came to H.B. McManus as the "new kid" he immediately made me feel like part of the class. I know that all of the students he taught at McManus would agree with me when i say that he was probably one of the greatest teachers out there. Not only could he teach, but he took the time to get to know his students. I'll never forget that man's laugh though heh. It makes me smile just thinking about it. rest in peace sir

From Jamie (Wogan) Mac Donald, [email protected]
I was so sad to hear of Mr. Bethell's passing. He was a great man and a great teacher.
He taught me for three years at St. Alexander and those were some of my favourite years in school. He always made our lessons lively and fun. He was so encouraging and positive in his teaching method.
For me personally he praised my art work and influenced me greatly to pursue my art throughout my life.
He also brought a flare for soccer to our school. Another fond memory I have of him is they way he would try to get us to guess his "real" name. He'd offer some crazy reward he would never be able to give us, such as time off school, etc. if we could solve this mystery. He never really wanted us to guess his name though. *smile*
I have so many wonderful memories of Mr. Bethell. He wasn't just a teacher, he was a mentor to many children.
I will never forget him.
My heart and condolences go out to you his family and all that loved him.
With Deepest Sympathy,
Jamie (Wogan) Mac Donald
