Michael Robert Blake passed away in
Vancouver, Washington on July 29th, 2024 leaving behind a legacy of kindness, self-discipline, and a deep love for life.
Mike was born on March 13, 1957 to his loving parents Barbara & Robert Blake in Arcata, California. In Mike's early years, the family moved from Arcata to Southern California in 1960. The family spent a few years there before making a permanent home in Northern California in the community of Central Valley, now known as Shasta Lake City, in 1967. Here he attended grade school and when Mike moved on to Central Valley High School, he did so with many friends. Mike was a very popular guy! His sense of humor, laugh, smile and loyalty attracted many, who became lifelong friends.
Between the years of 1975-1989, some will remember as the "BB" years. Mike always had lovely women falling at his feet! The "BB" effect was Mike's beautiful blue eyes and blonde hair. Although Mike had a few serious relationships during these years, no one could nail him down until he met Laura. Mike and Laura met and worked together at the Casino Club in Redding, California. Though Mike cherished his independence, his love for Laura led them to marriage in 1991. Mike and Laura's marriage was an important chapter in Mike's journey as it brought him his beloved sons, Nick and Cody. Mike was a very proud father and he embraced the profound meaning and joy that his sons provided in his life. Throughout his life, Mike had many jobs but found his passion working predominately in
Vancouver, Washington as a truck driver and mover known for his unmatched work ethic and dedication.
Family and friends who became as close as family, meant the world to Mike. He is deeply loved and will be missed by so many. His legacy lives on through his sons Nick & Cody, his grandsons Keiran & Orion, his sisters Sharon, Barbara, Holly, & D'Ann. And a multitude of cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and more friends than we can count.
He was known for his heart of gold and unwavering honesty, he was a person who always spoke his mind and never backed down from his beliefs. With a remarkable sense of humor, he could always bring a smile to those around him. Throughout his life, Mike traveled extensively due to his career, cherishing every moment and embracing the simple joys. His dedication to self-improvement was evident as he began each day before the sun rose with a workout routine. He was a believer in magic & miracles and lover of nature & animals. He had a passion for fantasy such as wizards, knights and dragons. He found beauty in both classic rock music such as the Beatles and the vast world of superheroes.
Mike bravely battled cancer twice, cherishing every moment after his first victory in 2012. He dedicated this time to making lasting memories with his family, enjoying special trips, deepening bonds, and finding joy in life's simple pleasures. Despite the challenges, he maintained a positive outlook, driven by resilience, love, and gratitude. Mike is remembered for his unwavering commitment to family and life lessons he shared about love and purpose, which his loved ones will forever treasure.
Despite the challenges he faced, Mike remained true to himself and his values, prioritizing family and making every effort to celebrate birthdays and holidays together. His generous spirit, from spontaneous gestures to heartfelt conversations, made him a cherished presence in the lives of those he loved. An avid fan of roller coasters, action films, and sunny beach days, Mike lived life with a passion that touched everyone around him. Though he was always on the move, whether driving or working, his ultimate dream was to retire peacefully. Now, he rests in that peace, leaving behind a profound impact and a family who will deeply miss his warmth and drive. In remembering him, we hold his principles close to our hearts and commit to living our lives with the same passion and happiness he shared with us all.
